Circa 1900 — Originally constructed as a herring dock serving the local fishing community.

World War II — Requisitioned by the RAF as a search and rescue base, playing an important role in supporting aircraft operations along the North Sea coast.

In the immediate post‑war years, the on‑site barracks were even repurposed into a holiday camp, serving locals and visitors alike.

1979 onwards — Acquired by Tilling Construction, who used the site as a coastal export hub featuring two large aggregate silos.

Late 1990s — The site was cleared and lay untouched for nearly two decades.

2017 — GMC purchased the land and began an extensive redevelopment and planning process.

7 years + 4 planning officers — A long but rewarding planning journey that has shaped a truly unique final scheme.
